Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant: a party on Titanic?

I feel slightly uncomfortable with this Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant and massive 4days long country-wide party. It reminds me of one of the scenes of Titanic movie when ship is already in danger, but party goes on..

It may be as an act of nation building, boosting Britishness and monarchy’s public support but at a cost of massive public spending and overconsumption of food and drink (and you always wonder what’s the efficiency of all those anti-obesity and anti-drinking campaigns, right?).

Well, i imagine, Tories cross their fingers to show next month that economy is again back on track with reported increase of GDP. And, then the argument will go that austerity is working after all…

hehh

Sorry, i know i am slightly cynical
